Unified Document Review

A successful document review depends on thorough planning that begins long before the first document meets the eyes of an attorney. Global Colleague is run by veterans of the litigation-support industry who have managed document collections and reviews for some of the world's most complex legal matters. We have managed review projects in the fields of anti-trust, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, employment, intellectual property, and insurance litigation.

Global Colleague's Unified Document Review Approach

We provide unified processes, review platforms, and project management across multiple entities, locations, and languages. Global Colleague is your international, single point of contact for:

  • identifying, collecting, processing, and preserving potentially relevant data;

  • conducting early data analysis and rapid investigatory reviews;

  • reviewing document for relevancy to a matter and categorizing by factual and legal issues;

  • identifying privileged, confidential, and private documents and redacting/sanitizing protected information;

  • summarizing and/or translating foreign-language documents; and

  • producing relevant documents.

Multiple-language Review

We have experience managing projects for Fortune 50 companies and AmLaw 100 firms that involve multiple teams, languages, and countries. We can quickly assemble teams for Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, and Portuguese document-review projects. We also provide summaries and certified translations of documents as needed, using translators that are co-located with our review teams in our secure review facilities. Because we do not rely on sending documents out to third-party translation agencies, and because our embedded translators support and are supported by our reviewers, we are able to provide high-quality translation with quick turn-around time without your data ever needing to leave the secure review environment.

Quality Assurance

We ensure quality by:

  • assigning quality analysts that are wholly independent from the document-review teams to conduct internal quality checks of randomly-sampled documents;

  • using search, sorting, and tally tools to ensure consistent coding of like documents;

  • calibrating client counsel and Global Colleague reviewer decisions by having our reviewers re-review sampled sets of client-counsel-coded documents and resolving decision variances;

  • providing every single reviewer with frequent training and feedback on quality procedures and best practices;

  • empowering all team members to report any concerns and suggest improvements;

  • using reviewers with specialized knowledge and expertise to meet specific review needs, such as taxation, accountancy, commerce, economics, medical jurisprudence and forensic sciences, corporate and labor laws, journalism, human resources, office automation, cyber law, and information technology;

  • and—most important—ensuring access to and timely responses from client subject-matter experts and ensuring that expert decisions and instructions are properly documented, promulgated, read, and understood.

Legal Project Management

Do not underestimate the importance of experienced legal-project managers to the success of your outsourced project. The skills and experience required to manage outsourced legal work are different from those needed for non-law-related work. Experience in managing business or IT projects and processes does not always translate to success in managing outsourced legal work. Time constraints imposed by a court-mandated discovery deadline create unique challenges. If your project manager has not been subjected to the crushing pressure of high-stakes litigation, they should not be entrusted with your legal work.

Our project managers are savvy, tested legal professionals who have received intense training from U.S. lawyers and have years of experience managing discovery projects for multinational corporations and the law firms that represent them. We customize our reporting and communication processes to meet the unique requirements of your project and use the latest in project-management and collaboration technologies to ensure that you have secure access to up-to-the minute data on your matters. We'll keep you informed about your project's status by whatever means you prefer, whether that be e-mailed reports, on-line team sites, WAP pages for your smart phone, instant messages, faxed updates, daily conference calls, or any combination of the above.

We cultivate a work ethic and esprit de corps that makes your problems our challenges to solve. Our deep project-management team is the key to managing projects across multiple languages in different countries.
